Key Themes and Events
2001 was a year of dramatic highs and lows. We launched a new full time one year advanced programme which combined discipline specific modules with cross curricular elements such as information technology, life skills, business skills and learning skills. We also experienced a major financial crises in the second half of the year that forced the retrenchment of three full time staff.
But through this exhilarating and tumultuous year it was the spirit of commitment to and a passion for art amongst students, staff, trustees, volunteers, interns, visitors and supporters that sustained the organisation and gave it a vitality and relevance even after 25 years of 'learning by doing'
The year kicks off with an exciting package of courses catering for a range of students.
In partnership with the National Department of Arts Culture Science
And Technology we run Workshops Across the country helpiny arts NGO's get to grips with the NQF.
With our partners at the Frank Joubert centre, Ruth Prowse art School, Pentech and the Ibhabhthane project and with DACST financial Support we successfully host provincial and national working seminars bringing together arts trainers from both the NGO and state sectors to identify ways of addressing the challenges of delivering the new arts and culture curriculem in our schools.
