Maria
Beaunoir - Receptionist: Maria originally started off as a volunteer until
she was hired as secretary. She believes that art is essential in
everyone's lives as a healthy outlet for creativity and emotions,
and should be made more accessible and has thus been committed to
CAP for the past 4 years. Maria also does volunteer secretarial
work at the St. Agnes Catholic Church.
Graham
Falken, BA (Hons.), English and Philosophy, The Victoria University
of Manchester, & Post Gradate Certificate in Education, The
Victoria University of Manchester, & Diploma in Professional
Studies (Counselling), Manchester Metropolitan University - Director:
Graham came to CAP with a rich background in counselling as a trainer
and supervisor working with government, educational, commercial,
NGO and health care sectors. He has also served as a lecturer in
English, General Studies, Pre-Vocational Education and Counselling
Theory. Graham's interest in CAP stems from a life long interest
in equal access to education and a belief in the transformative
power of the Arts at both a personal and community level.
Joseph
Gaylard, BFA, Michealis School of Art, & BA Honours, History
of Fine Arts, University of Capetown - Visual Arts Educator:
Joseph came to CAP in '97 as a facilitator for the Mural History
course. His responsibilities as CAP's Visual Arts Educator include
course facilitation, curriculum and materials development, and development
of links with other providers. Joseph has played a key role in the
Lead Project. Prior to coming to CAP Joseph lectured and tutored
in the Fine Arts and History of Art departments and Academic Development
Program at the University of Cape Town (UCT). He also taught at
St Francis Adult Education Centre and Rosebank House College. Joseph
is playing a leading role in the development of new standards and
qualifications for education and training in the visual and performing
arts, under the mandate of the South
African Qualifications Authority.
Zoleka
Helesi came to CAP as a performing arts student in 1998. In
the same year she was appointed trainee Community Arts Manager as
part of the Standard Bank Development Program. Over a two year period
Zoleka is being mentored and is assuming responsibilities relating
to student and staff administration, marketing, financial administration
and fund-raising. In 1998 Zoleka formed a Khayelitsha based theatre
group called Ibongo Theatre Group, comprised mainly of teenagers.
She has received leadership skills training from Delta and is a
member of the Western Cape branch of the Women's Institute for Leadership,
Development and Democracy as well as the African Voices Jazz singers.
Lawrence Makinana
- Caretaker: Lawrence has been employed at CAP since 1994.
His responsibilities include maintenance of the building and garden.
Pogiso
Mogwera, Diploma
in Speech and Drama, Drama School, University of Capetown - Performing
Arts Educator: Pogiso has worked as an actor at PACOFS North
West Province Arts Council as a performer. He has also acted as
a tutor of drama at Mmabana Cultural Center until he took on the
role of drama manager. He joined CAP July 1999 as a Performing Arts
Educator. Pogiso is currently a member of the Phakama Project and
is committed to maintaining a high standard in the performing arts.
Monwabisi
Mtyiwazo, BA, Higher Diploma in Education, & BA Honours, History,
University of the Western Cape - Learning Support Co-ordinator:
Monwabisi has a background as an adult educator and facilitator.
He has worked as a Child Abuse Prevention trainer for RAPCAN, and
co-ordinator of the Moira Henderson House that operates under Heaven
Night Shelters before joining CAP as the Learner Support Co-ordinator.
Monwabisi's current interests lie within the performing and visual
arts.
Tracey
Saunders - Financial Administrator: Tracey has 13 years
of experience in financial administration and auditing, and has
been involved in the NGO sector in her capacity as a finance administrator
for ten years. Tracey also works for The Big Issue, and is a board
member of Rape Crisis.
